To formally identify new talent and select a pool of 50 promising cricket players across Saudi Arabia, Saudi Cricket Center (SCC) has officially invited the world-renowned Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Khan Afridi to conduct a transparent exercise of new talent selection with formal support from ACC’s cricket development executive Iqbal Sikander.
According to the press release of SCC these cricket selection trials under Shahid Afridi’s lead will be in Jeddah (Jan. 16-17), Yanbu (Jan. 18), Dammam (Jan. 19), and Riyadh (Jan. 20-21). The SCC had planned a trial in Madinah, but that has been scratched from the schedule. All cricket players (residents of Saudi Arabia), regardless of age or nationality, from all cricket clubs and leagues (whether affiliated with SCC or not) are equally entitled to participate and compete for the selection
In this regard, a special purpose website www.cricpro.org has been established and duly propagated in local media and press. All existing and prospective players are required to register their names at the website in order to be considered for the above talent selection program.
The Cricket Talent Selection Event is coinciding with SCC’s tenth anniversary and is considered a good business promotion opportunity (Jeddah, Yanbu, Medinah, Riyadh, Dammam) for interested corporate sponsors.
With head office in Jeddah, SCC manages 6 regional associations and 217 cricket clubs all over Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This places SCC as one of the top ten ICC affiliates and proves SCC’s commitment to develop and manage cricket operations across the Kingdom.
Saudi Cricket Centre (SCC) on its 10th Anniversary in January 2013 has embarked on a Kingdom-wide talent promotion program. This measure will stream line and develop cricket at all regional levels and will pave ways for a well-trained “Saudi Cricket Team”. Kingdom-wide talent hunt campaign has recently been propagated inviting cricket players (from all nationalities and ages) to register their interest at www.cricpro.org for the upcoming cricket selection event.
